Chapter 3: (Values) Purposeful agents gradually transition from prudent subjectivity to moral relativity, from cooperation to moral indignation.
11. (Mother Nature) Mother Nature is the first rule enforcer of normativity making us predators or prey that seek resources and avoid danger.
12. (Competition) The scarcity of resources creates selfish, zero-sum competitors that are indirect dangers to each other.
13. (Cooperation) Stability in repeated interactions creates opportunities for self-interested, non-zero-sum cooperation, transforming some indirect dangers into indirect resources.
14. (Equilibrium) Rewards and punishments maintain a cooperative equilibrium, thus disincentivizing defection.
15. (Parochiality) Cooperation survives easiest within types and stable contexts and amongst our nearest and dearest.
